EZ Acupuncture’s Philosophy/Mission Statement
We believe that natural, holistic therapies are important and integral parts of a healthy lifestyle, especially in today’s fast-paced and hectic world. Our mission is to educate and instruct the public, and especially the non-Asian community, about the benefits of acupuncture and other forms of traditional medicine. Our goal is to provide natural, safe and affordable alternative health therapies.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of therapy used in the coherent system of Oriental Medicine including Cupping, Moxibustion and Herbology. It promotes health and alleviates suffering using a method that has been tested over thousands of years and continues to be validated today. Just as Western medical doctors monitor blood flowing through blood vessels and messages traveling via the nervous system, acupuncturists assess the flow of “Qi” and blood. Qi is a vital energy within pathways known as “meridians” or “channels”.
How is Acupuncture Performed?
Acupuncture needles are inserted into various points on the body for the purposes of treating specific disorders. Individually packaged, sterilized, disposable needles are inserted superficially in the skin which help the arrival of Qi. The arrival of Qi encourages the body to improve and regulate functions.
Do the Needles Hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very thin. Unlike hypodermic needles, they are solid, without a hollow center. Patients usually experience a mild tingling or dull sensation, but these sensations subside once the needles have been placed. The majority of patients report that the benefits of treatment offset any discomfort felt during the session.
What is Oriental Herbology?
Oriental Herbology is just one element in the coherent system of Oriental Medicine. It involves the use of herbs, minerals and sometimes animal substances to treat illness and maintain good health. Oriental herbs are usually prescribed in conjunction with acupuncture treatments.
How are Oriental Herbs Prescribed?
Each herbal prescription is unique & developed to suit each patient’s individual health needs at a particular time. The herbologist selects herbs to compliment or enhance their positive effects while simultaneously balancing or reducing unwanted side effects. By combining herbs, synergies have been created that vastly increase the medicinal effects.
Unlike western medicine, the balance and interaction between all of the ingredients are more important than the effect of any individual herb.
